Welcome to The Climb, your weekly journey with Lifecycle Sherpa, where we explore Parkinson’s Disease, its symptoms, treatments, tips, techniques, and build a supportive and knowledgeable community.
This week’s trail leads us to… Double Vision (Diplopia).
Question: What is it? Why does it happen? What can I do to manage it?
Answer: It is VERY IMPORTANT to address safety with driving skills with those who are experiencing vision changes as they may no longer be safe to drive.
Seeing double. The second image can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal to the true image.
This can occur as a result of the eyes becoming fatigued from holding a position when reading.
Tips:
1) Medication (speak to your doctor about details)
2) Follow up with an Occupational Therapist who specializes in driving for an assessment if necessary.
We always encourage feedback, as it helps us enhance our community. Feel free to reach out regarding future topics you want to learn about, or how we can improve your experience.
See you next week!
