Issue #39 Anxiety

November 27, 2024

Welcome to The Climb, your weekly journey with Lifecycle Sherpa, where we explore Parkinson’s Disease, its symptoms, treatments, tips, techniques, and build a supportive and knowledgeable community.

This week’s trail leads us to… anxiety.

Question: What is it and why does it happen?

Answer: In those with Parkinson’s Disease it can include phobias (fears), panic attacks, and rumination or perseveration (getting stuck thinking about something without the ability to move on).

This most likely occurs as a result of complex dysfunction in the brain stem.

Tips to address anxiety:

  1. Medication (speak with your doctor for details)
  2. Speak to a Psychologist or Neuropsychologist
