Welcome to The Climb, your weekly journey with Lifecycle Sherpa, where we explore Parkinson’s Disease, its symptoms, treatments, tips, techniques, and build a supportive and knowledgeable community.
This week’s trail leads us to… Driving and Parkinson’s Disease (Part 2)
When should we start talking about driving? NOW! Whether you are seeing symptoms and changes already, or not, it is best to draw the line now so that when the time comes, there is less heartache for you and less stress and guilt on your partner. Trust me.
But it’s hard to talk about. Yes. It is. Giving up this independence is ALWAYS a huge deal and is typically a big decision. Reluctance to admit you are no longer safe enough to drive is common.
Think about it like this: Do you have a quick enough response time for merging cars and construction? Do you have the proper vision to see everything in your path? Do you have quick enough timing to make safe, split second adjustments when on the road? Even in bad weather?
Want more? We have a course specifically on driving and Parkinson’s Disease, including the symptoms to look out for, tests available, and more, Check out our online courses HERE.
We always encourage feedback, as it helps us enhance our community. Feel free to reach out regarding future topics you want to learn about, or how we can improve your experience.
See you next week!
